Navy License Plates

For those of you who don’t know, I am very recently retired from the Navy after 23 years.

If you have ever seen my cars, you realize I like personalized license plates. I have changed them quite a few times whenever I find something that amuses me and have had such winners as ILBBAC, GEEKDAD, WARDRM, and currently HHRYNW8 on my HHR.

I am going to get a Retired Armed Forces-Navy plate and I am having trouble deciding what to get on it to summarize my Navy time from being an Enlisted bubblehead to a SWO/IP CDR. I considered NVRAGN (Never Again) but it was taken. A few others were too but the following are available.

  • SUBSWO
  • CDRRET
  • QM CDR
  • FUUO
  • SWO SS
  • LNDLKD
  • NOMORC
  • NO PRT
  • FINEX
  • BKSHOE

So, would love to hear your opinion on what I should get from the list, or, if you have a better idea (6 letters) please send it on.

Thanks in advance and I hope you all have the most joyous of holidays!

  1. Paris sent me EX 34 which is available. I thought about that one but wondered how many people would get it.

Let me know if you do.

    Mike

  2. I had emailed these to Psycho earlier. I wanted to make sure they got posted here so I would get credit:

    BEACHD

    CIVLNT

    You’re right; I don’t get the EX 34.

  4. Thanks for posting Hadji…. I’m really liking ASHORE and CIVLNT!

BZ – I get 7 or 8 if I use a blank plate but with the Navy logo I only get 6 which disquals almost all of yours but I LOL at SDBS4SL.

    Thanks Shipmates!

    What about NOT UW?

  5. Babus,

Thanks for the input, but I am afraid I had to remove your post. It was not in keeping with the other respondents opinions, which I actually value. These by the way, are the same people who help protect your freedom of speech, which although an obvious error in judgment, is beyond their control.

I do have a license plate suggestion for you, just to return the favor: FCKOFF DUMBAS.

An editors note: I would apologize for my comments to my more sensitive readers, but you should all be sailors ;)

  6. What sensitive readers? seems like we are the only two people viewing this blog. Have fun writing about your license plates and your other geeky bs.

  7. Ahh Babus..I know not your background, nor what you said. What I do know is that those of us who have served together enjoy following up and keeping in touch. There is a relationship I don’t think you can understand, nor will I try to explain.

As for plates Mike….I am partial to something like BBLHED but then again I am biased. I will float it around in my brain and see what rattles out.

  8. Thanks Rink. That whole Bubblehead was only about 2 years of the 23 so I may have to choose another option.

And your gonna have to tell me what this whole Rinkrat thing is. First I have heard of it.

  9. When I am not doing the Navy thing I still play Ice Hockey….but now I am the old guy (at 35 no less!) trying to keep up with the 19 y/o’s. Anyhow folks that spend a lot of time around ice rinks (most kids that play hockey) are known as rinkrats. It has just sorta carried forward I guess.

  10. I’m just fooling around boys, I actually have a lot of respect for people who serve, Even when they serve for wars that make corrupt rich people even richer.

    Oh and I’m also a rinkrat :P

  11. That Babus dude needs to find another place to post. For the record, I am a Gal. So, how does WRDOUT strike you? I like FUUO. I do not get the EX 34 thing. The EX part is clear, but I am lost on 34. Another choice could be NOSHOE (instead of BKSHOE). NOT UW gets my vote as does CVLANT. -SS

  12. How about LKYSWO. Just tossing a little note from us Navy guys at Fort Riley training for AF. The Army is everything you expected. Paris is in a different group so I only get to see him at the galley every so often. I would have thought they would stick him with us in “Hotel”.

  13. Mike how about 226CLB (226 Club) I think we solved all the world problems in that room. Congratulations on the retirement, enjoy it. CU old bill

  14. Old Bill,

Yes, we did solve some problems from Club 226 but it seems like there are more to be solved. Maybe we need a Club 226 reunion tour :)

    Thanks for the input!
