I am so proud…

My little girl has graduated! *  They grow up so fast… OK, not my daughter, she is 6 for goodness sake, I am talking about my wife.

That’s right, after a few years (don’t worry honey, I won’t say how many) in the business sector, 2 kids, and another few years as a stay at home Mom, my wife went back to school full time at the beginning of this year to get her LPN Nursing degree.

My son and daughter, as well as my mother-in-law, my wife’s brother and her grandfather and I listened to the speeches, and watched as each member of the class received their diplomas and their nurse’s pin.

After the diplomas, the Outstanding Achievement award for highest GPA was announced, and my kids watched as their Mommy was called in recognition of her 3.97 GPA. Finally, the Florence Nightingale Award went to a student chosen by the other students, for their achievements in the class. We all cheered as my wife was called back up to the stage.

Graduation and sweeping the awards! Great job hon, we are all very proud of you!

*My wife didn’t appreciate being called ‘my little girl’ and I guess I can’t blame her. I was just really proud of her accomplishments and I kind of related it to the pride I have in my children’s accomplishments. It won’t happen again… at least I’ll try not to.

Thank you all for your messages!!!! I could not have been so successfull without Mike taking over as “Mr. Mom” for the year or without all of the extra help from my mom and dad! Mom was always willing to be here at 5:30 a.m. to be with the kids when I had to leave to get to a clinical site by 6:30! Dad came over to meet the bus and get the kids safely to their house on multiple occasions. Having such great family support made it possible for me to concentrate on school, knowing that my kids were being well taken care of!

Mike was especially supportive, always encouraging me and never making me feel like my goals should be put on hold for him or the kids or anything else. I am truly blessed to have him and the rest of you!!!!

    Thanks so much for everything!!!!!

    Dawn,
Fantastic job….I had no doubt you would do it and do it well. Nice work and congratulations on all the superlatives and “going the extra mile”. I’m sure that’s how you will be as a nurse as well. If I were sick I would want you to be my nurse.
Your stepsister-in-law is very proud of you!
    Love and hugs,

Congratulations Dawn! Only a really caring person can truly be successful in a caring profession. You’ve shown how caring you are by being the top of the class, now get on those white shoes and get ready to show your patients. Calling Nurse Dawn…. Calling Nurse Dawn….

We are glad to have someone with some compassionate medical knowledge in the family. Do you make house calls?
